If you are reading this, you probably live in America or another wealthy nation.
You probably have more food options than you know what to do with.
In fact, too much food may be what brought you here. But there are many in the world who lack food.
So while many of us suffer from a problem of overabundance, others suffer from a problem of scarcity.
What if there was a common solution to both problems?
You cannot really send your super-sized meals to starving children in Africa.
But there is a way to address your fitness challenges while helping others.
- What if by losing a pound of fat, you could help a starving child get to eat?
- What if by losing an inch off your waist, you can help battered women and children?
- What if by adding a pound of muscle, you could help make advancements in cancer research?
- What if by taking a walk today, you could help the environment?
Ask yourself, if you could give someone else’s money away, what types of causes would you support?
What matters most to you? With that in mind, take a look at this charity list and pick one to play for.
We are constantly giving money away to charities. And you can decide where it goes.
But if you want a vote you have to earn it through the GripIron Fitness Challenge.
In the GripIron Fitness Challenge, players compete one-on-one. Players score points
by performing workouts and improving their body measurements. The player with the most points
at the end of each week wins his or her game. Winners move up the rankings and
losers move down. As you move up the rankings, the charity stakes increase. Every week top two ranked players
compete in a championship game with the highest charity stakes.
Every four weeks we hold a one-week election to decide how to distribute our
charity prize money. The top three most nominated charities make the ballot.
Charities get nominations when players win their weekly games.
Winning players also earn votes they can use during these elections.
To learn more about the GripIron Fitness Challenge, see the competition section.
If the charity you are playing for makes the ballot and you have votes,
you will probably vote for them. But even if your charity doesn’t make the ballot, you can
still have a say. Just vote for the charity on the ballot that you would most like to support.
This way every game makes a difference and every vote counts.
All charities have been selected with careful consideration of how they spend their
money and most have been researched on CharityNavigator.org. If you do not see a charity
you would like on the list, let us know. We cannot guarantee that
we will add it to the list. There are many worthy charities but often research on their financials is not available.
But we will take it under consideration.
